Very good day at Milaca and Griak!

Due to scheduling weirdness again this year,  Wayzata again ran two varsity's, one at the Roy Griak invitational and the other at the Milaca invite.  Both races are two of the most prestigious during the cross country season and provide electric atmospheres.  The field at the Griak is massive coupled with the fact the course is one of the toughest in the nation provide a real check to see where teams are at the turning point of the season.  Shaking off the rust, the girls did well, finishing 7th and providing much needed feed-back.

The Milaca meet provides the opportunity to break up into grade levels and the Wayzata ladies did not disappoint.  Missing several key middle school runners the 7th and 8th grade were still able to garner two 2nd place finishes.  The freshman continue their amazing improvement taking first in the 9th grade race.  The sophomores showed why they have potential of being a great running class by putting athletes in both varsity races and still winning the 10th grade race.  The varsity, using athletes from five different grades took 3rd in a field of 21 teams.  The JV had the toughest race of the day having to run in a massive field of over 400 runners on a somewhat narrow course.  They still took 8th out of 41 teams.

Next week we will finally get the troops all together at the Victoria Lions Invitational.  This will be the middle school 5k challenge,
